What our county needs now is a multi-faceted leader who is approachable; can bring people together; build partnerships and give every citizen a voice.
Rae has served for almost twenty years in the community from chairing neighborhood associations; as a member of citizen involvement councils and appointed on government committees; fundraising and volunteering in times of crisis including the wildfires; to being president of two non-profit volunteer run organizations. She has made it her passion to give value and a voice to others.
She has worked in both the private and public sector; been a small business owner as well as a self-employed musician. She experienced struggles during the pandemic and loss of income and food insecurity. Her diverse background and lived experiences most importantly allow her understand and connect with people where they are.
Rae was employed for over ten years in Clackamas County's Tourism and Cultural Affairs department working with people, city governments, volunteers and businesses throughout the county from down in the valley to the top of Mt. Hood. She understands the unique needs of both urban and rural communities. She also was an employee leader building morale and advancing inclusion practices. After becoming disenchanted with government work and an inability to enact change in her current role, she left to pursue other opportunities. She returned to work with Emergency Operations in both Social Services and Disaster Management temporarily for COVID response when the pandemic took away her livelihood as with so many others. She knows the county organization and how to help fix issues from the inside out, not the outside in.
